Unincorporated County Areas

The Sustainability Department works to ensure compliant waste collection services in the unincorporated county areas. This includes overseeing waste hauling contracts with the multiple waste haulers that serve the unincorporated areas. To learn more about the different unincorporated areas of the county and the policies in place, see below.

County Franchised Areas

County Franchised Areas (CFA) are governed by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, and County staff administer their contracts for curbside garbage and recycling collection services through a franchise agreement with Recology San Mateo County.
