The Sustainability Department is offering free deconstruction trainings from The ReUse Institute, the training division of The ReUse People of America, which has trained over 50 contractors and 500 deconstruction workers throughout the country.
Deconstruction, also referred to as salvage, is a cost-effective and environmentally responsible alternative to conventional building demolition. Deconstruction is the systematic disassembly of a building in order to recover the maximum economic and environmental value of materials through reuse and recycling.
BENEFITS OF DECONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP
This will be a two hour training for homeowners, contractors, architects, and government staff (construction, deconstruction, demolition, solid waste, recycling, planning and building department staff). We will be learning about the entire deconstruction process and tax deductions.
