Using Translation

The County of San Mateo has added a translation feature developed by Google Translate to assist web visitors in understanding information on this website in a variety of foreign languages. Please be aware that Google Translate, a free third party service which the County does not control, provides automated computer translations that may not give you an exact translation. The County cannot guarantee the accuracy of translations through Google Translate so translations should not be considered exact and only used as a rough guide. Anyone relying on information obtained from Google Translate does so at his or her own risk. The County disclaims and will not accept any liability for damages or losses of any kind caused by the use of the Google Translate feature.

The Youth Climate Ambassadors (YCA) Leadership Program is made possible through a collaboration of non-profit organizations, agencies, and local government who have teamed up to support youth action on climate change. The YCA partner organizations include Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame, Peninsula Clean Energy, San Mateo County Office of Education, and the County of San Mateo’s Sustainability Department.
 

Acterra - Action for a Healthy Planet

Acterra is a San Francisco Bay Area 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Palo Alto that brings people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet. They focus on what you can do locally to address current environmental problems. In the face of daunting environmental challenges, their science-based approach instills hope while building community.

Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame

The Citizens Environmental Council (CEC) of Burlingame has become a regional catalyst for sustainability, educating the public on critical environmental issues, advocating for planet-friendly policies and empowering youths to become environmental leaders.

CEC’s mission is to champion a more environmentally and economically sustainable community. CEC provides leadership in local green efforts and serves as an educational resource for residents, businesses and institutions.

Sustainability Department, County of San Mateo

Formed in July 2014 as a part of the County Manager’s Office, the Sustainability Department is committed to building a sustainable community that fulfils the needs of the present and future. To do this, the Sustainability Department works in areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency; resource conservation; alternative transportation; and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

Peninsula Clean Energy

Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) is a community choice energy (CCE) program and is San Mateo County’s locally-controlled electricity provider. PCE is reducing greenhouse gas emissions and offering customer choice energy at competitive rates.

San Mateo County Office of Education

The San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) launched an Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Initiative (ELSI) in Fall 2017. This initiative promotes environmental literacy and helps prepare leaders to integrate environmental sustainability and a climate ready mindset, across a school community’s campus, curriculum, community and culture.
