Do you wish your community was more sustainable? Wish you could do something about Climate Change?  Want to make a difference in your community?
If you like talking to people, you can make a real impact on climate and sustainability AND support local small businesses by becoming a volunteer for the San Mateo County Green Business Program.

Did you know that California Certified Green Businesses have prevented over 840,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide pollution and saved 150 million gallons of water last year? They’ve also saved businesses over $35 million dollars through energy conservation. This program works. But to work to its full potential, it needs you to be a champion for your community.

Please join us at our Green Business 101 Overview & Volunteer Training to discover:

  • How the San Mateo County Green Business Program is helping businesses reduce their environmental/climate impact, save money, and conserve resources.
  • The important role volunteers play as champions, helping businesses and organizations discover and take part in this proven California-wide program.

At this training, you will:

  • Learn how to invite small businesses to participate in the Green Business Program so they can easily conserve resources, save money and reduce climate pollution.
  • Develop a strategy for approaching businesses in your community.
  • Meet others who care about sustainability, community and local small businesses.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

Volunteer Commitment: Attend the training and sign up for at least a two-hour shift to talk one-on-one with businesses in an area of your choice. Submit a collection form with a list of businesses they visited within two weeks of the training. Short-term and long-term volunteers welcome.

Longer term volunteers will receive additional training and develop transferable career skills.
